Nature's Milk

"The babe, emerging from his liquid bed, Now lifts in gelid air its nodding head..
Seeks with spread hands the bosom's velvet orbs,With closing lips the milky folds"

- Beauty

Obviously, if I created a "Breast Appreciation" site, breast feeding has to be included. Breast feeding is what the whole thing is all about!
Healthy breasts are the nurturing fruits of our early life. Is there any doubt I was breast fed?
Thanks Mom-

Believe it or not,

Mother's Milk
There are people and organizations who would like to see this beautiful and natural sight to completely vanish from our "sophisticated", every day, society!

I believe that there's nothing more innocent, pure, perfect, healthy and not to mention "natural" than to see a mother feeding her babe.

In a recent trip to Chicago while visiting Navy Pier, I was treated to an almost side by side comparison of this natural function. In one table at a restaurant, sat a middle age woman, feeding her bundle of joy and comforting the child with sweet words. It struck me that no matter the onlookers around the table, she carried her task with love and dignity. Her breasts were fulfilling their duty!

Almost on cue, at the restaurant next door, I'd noticed a new young mom dealing with the trivialities of baby feeding. A cell phone to her ear in one hand and a pen and pad of paper on the other. This lovely young lady was apparently caught up with daily life to breast feed or hold a bottle to her infant. A plastic tube attached to an automatic pump hanging from her shoulder containing a pouch of milk, which in turn nursed the babe, was doing the job. Wow, all done automatically thanks to "Baby's Little Butler".

In contrast, when I see the mom on these pictures, sharing a sweet moment with her baby, or I think back to the first woman at the restaurant; makes me think which of the two babies will have a stronger relationship with his mother, a healthier attitude or a better grasp of his own nature.

I hope that progress and practicality won't replace all those priceless moments of intimate bonding.

Great, quick article on reastaurant breastfeeding in California...Read

USMagazine, Friday, February 8, 2013, 12:20pm (PST)
  • Mayim Bialik has been breastfeeding her son Fred for the past four years, and now that time has come to an end. In a Feb. 6 blog post for Jewish parenting website Kveller, the recently single "Big Bang Theory" actress detailed how she finally weaned her little boy.
"Well, nay-sayers, prepare to be proven wrong. All of you snarky mamas who glared at me nursing my 3 1/2-year-old on the NYC subway, prepare to be amazed. And to all of my family and friends who wanted to chastise me about nursing a walking, talking, thinking, laughing little man named Fred, thanks for holding your tongues," Bialik, 37, wrote. "Because we did it. Fred isn't going to nurse on his way down the wedding aisle or at his high school graduation. I didn't need to break him of a 'habit' and teach him 'who's in charge.' I didn't need to set boundaries you thought I should have set when I didn't want to set them. Because we did it: Fred weaned."   ... read story
